The Participation Co-ordinator helps people seeking sanctuary to make friends, enjoy themselves and take part in the life of the city.

VAS works to create a Sheffield where everyone can achieve their potential by supporting people and communities to lead positive change.

The Participation Co-ordinator helps people seeking sanctuary to make friends, enjoy themselves and take part in the life of the city. You will:

  • Co-ordinate a programme of social activities where people can have fun, build friendships and feel human.
  • Connect people to activities, clubs and groups that already exist across Sheffield.
  • Support volunteers to lead activities, and help clients have a say in how the project is run.

The starting point is welcome and building a safe space. Creating a place where somebody feels safe is what makes everything else possible — and co-delivery through involving refugee volunteers in the design and delivery of the work is a key foundation of how we do that.

This role suits someone who is passionate about equity in opportunity, sees the skills people bring, and enjoys bringing people together.
