The starting point is welcome and building a safe space. Creating a place where somebody feels safe is what makes everything else possible — and co-delivery through involving refugee volunteers in the design and delivery of the work is a key foundation of how we do that.

The Employment Coach helps people seeking sanctuary to move into work, learning and training that use their skills. You will:

  • Support refugees, and people seeking asylum who have the right to work, to find work and progress in it.
  • Help refugees and people seeking asylum access English classes (ESOL), community learning and training.
  • Run a weekly job club with volunteers and mentors.
  • Work with partner organisations and VAS colleagues so that clients get the right support.

The starting point is welcome and building a safe space. Creating a place where somebody feels safe is what makes everything else possible — and co-delivery through involving refugee volunteers in the design and delivery of the work is a key foundation of how we do that.

This role suits someone who is passionate about equity in opportunity, sees the skills people bring, and enjoys working alongside volunteers.
