A new project is collecting stories from across Sheffield to celebrate a century of local community action, highlighting the people and groups who have supported their neighbourhoods.

Sheffield has always been a city where people look after each other.

This year, we are marking 100 years of community stories through We Are Sheffield.

We want to hear from the people who make Sheffield what it is. Local residents, neighbourhood groups and community organisations.

Do you have a story about community action in Sheffield?

It could be a campaign that brought people together, a local club that meant a lot to the community, neighbours helping each other out, a group of volunteers, or someone who made a real impact locally.

You can submit a short story, photos or other materials.

Selected stories may be featured in a 100 Stories exhibition, at the Lord Mayor’s reception, and at a city gala hosted by Voluntary Action Sheffield.

Submit your story by Monday 18th May 2026.
