Matt joined the team as Policy and Evidence Officer, managing feedback which comes into the rate and review website and organising Enter and View visits. He has a background in sociology and social research at university, as well as volunteering with charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Margaret Kilner

Chief Officer

Margaret has over ten years NHS management and leadership experience, supporting operational delivery and strategic improvements for Community and Addiction Services in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She is passionate about strengthening the involvement and influence of local people on the design and development of services in Sheffield.
Alongside her role as Chief Officer, Margaret is a Trustee on the board of Share Psychotherapy, one of the city’s long standing mental health charities.

Ben Christmas

Policy & Evidence Officer

Ben has a background in scientific research, particularly in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. He volunteers with local charities and is passionate about doing quality research that positively impacts the lives of health and social care users in Sheffield.

Laura Cook

Policy & Evidence Officer

Laura has a background in psychology and social research. Her role in Healthwatch Sheffield involves managing the reviews that come in to the rate and review website and identifying trends and specific issues to work on. She is also coordinating our ‘Testbeds’ work, part of a national programme exploring how new technologies can support those with long term conditions. We lead the patient engagement part of the Perfect Patient Pathway test bed. Laura usually works Monday to Thursday.

Mark Smith

Volunteer & Engagement Co-ordinator

As Volunteer and Engagement Co-ordinator at Healthwatch Sheffield, Mark’s role is to lead the recruitment, training and support of the team of volunteers who carry out a wide range of roles to help involve and gather views from members of the public on their experiences of health and social care in the City. His role also aims to

Mark is a qualified trainer and has worked in the voluntary and community sector for over 14 years as well as most recently working at a Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteers in a variety of roles including as a trustee for a local charity. Mark is an avid tea drinker and animal lover.
