Social prescribing

Bluebell Smith

Development Officer - Social Prescribing/Partnerships

We provide support to the sector in developing the city’s approach to, and infrastructure for, social prescribing. We collaborate with key stakeholders across the city to provide practical support and advice that increases the effectiveness and sustainability of People Keeping Well community partnerships.

Our service aims to reduce health inequalities by facilitating easy access to services that create health and wellbeing, and coordinating a cross-sector Community of Practice that offers a consistently high quality of social prescribing services across Sheffield.

Our work involves a well measured mixture of nationally informed best practice around social prescribing and responding to the needs of local people in our communities across Sheffield through the People Keeping Well framework.

We are able to support partnerships and organisations to adapt to the evolving landscape of the sector through capacity building, increasing communication, supporting partnerships to deliver priority outcomes and identifying opportunities for collaboration.

Our focus is to increase engagement around social prescribing across the city, and across sectors, with the aim of developing a thriving network of referral routes and activities that will reduce health inequalities and provide opportunities for local people.
