Lunch clubs referral service
Lunch Clubs Referrals Officer
We deal with referrals from individuals, family members, and support agencies. We put individuals who may be lonely or want to try new things in touch with their local Lunch Club, and explain how to become a member. Our good relationships with the club organisers mean we can sensitively refer people to a club that can meet their needs.
We listen to the person’s wishes and help them decide whether a Lunch Club is right for them. We can advise on transport options. We speak to family members and share information so they are aware of what’s available.
How we work with you
If you or someone you know is interested in joining a Lunch Club, we can help. We have a directory of clubs in Sheffield, and we have contacts with other services which may be suitable. You can email us to make a referral (using the form below) or ring us for a chat and we can take details over the phone. We’re here Tuesday to Thursday 10am to 4pm and we’re always glad to help.
We can find the nearest club to you, on a day that suits you. Typically they run over lunch time and provide a hot meal with activities and refreshments, as well as the most important part - the chance to chat to people of a similar age. Clubs are usually run by volunteers who are trained in Food Hygiene and Safeguarding so you’ll be in safe hands! Lunch Club members are independent and do not need any personal support or care- clubs are self-help support groups providing opportunities to meet old friends and make new ones.
