Who we are
We work hard to ensure the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in Sheffield and beyond has strength and resilience to thrive in a changing and challenging environment.
Through engagement, partnership and collaboration we ensure the sector’s influence is strengthened and that diverse voices are heard and amplified within all sectors.
For over 90 years Voluntary Action Sheffield (vas) has improved the quality of life for all of Sheffield’s communities by supporting voluntary and community action in the city.
We enable organisations to improve their effectiveness through the provision of specialist services and support that meet the diverse needs of the sector. Our building The Circle is used to benefit the third sector in Sheffield and beyond providing a thriving hub for tenants and organisations who use the facilities for conferencing, meetings and events.
The Volunteer Centre Sheffield is the lead volunteering organisation in Sheffield and a recognised centre of best practice enabling people to volunteer at all levels citywide. We are actively promoting health and wellbeing for people of Sheffield by working collaboratively with partners and listening to people’s voices to influence health and social care delivery.
VAS by numbers
We provide a wide range of support and services to groups, helping those starting up, as well as established organisations. We are committed to equal opportunities and to making our services relevant and accessible to smaller, community based groups. In addition to support for groups, some of our services are directed at individuals, particularly volunteers and people who use health and social care services in the city.
