A party for Sheffield's volunteers!

A huge thank you to everybody who attended our wonderful Volunteers' Street Party last week, as part of our Volunteers' Week and 90th celebrations!

The sun shone, there was endless amounts of cake, but most importantly we celebrated with almost 150 local volunteers at our special Street Party. Sue White, our CEO, welcomed guests and thanked them for their significant contribution to our city by giving their time to volunteer with local charities and voluntary organisations.

We were delighted to be joined by Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Denise Fox, and Janet Wheatley (CEO at Voluntary Action Rotherham) in her first official role as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, who both spoke of the important role of volunteers in society and chatted with volunteers about their work.

Volunteers enjoyed cake and refreshments (kindly donated/baked by staff from VAS and tenant organisations), and to receive a certificate of recognition for giving their time to volunteering.

Meanwhile, inside The Circle a busy Volunteer Recruitment Fair took place, with local charities attending to share information about current opportunities for those interested in getting involved in volunteering.

The event, which took place during national Volunteers Week, also marked celebrations for our 90th birthday here at VAS. There was a great atmosphere to the day, and we would like to thank everybody who kindly contributed or helped out at this event.
