Sheffield, provides advice and information to people
who would like to volunteer or find out more about
volunteering. We know which local organisations
need volunteers, and can provide information about
local, national and international volunteering opportunities.

Good
Practice in Volunteering
Volunteer
Centre Sheffield produces Good Practice Guidelines
on a variety of subjects relating to working with
volunteers. For example Managing Volunteers, Paying
Expenses and Writing a Volunteer Policy. These are

We
also offer support to groups
working with volunteers and deliver an ongoing programme
of accredited training on Good Practice in Managing

The
Volunteer Centre Refugee & Asylum Seeker Project
gives extra support to assist refugees & asylum
seekers get into worthwhile volunteering opportunities.
It also gives advice to organisations and agencies
who work with refugee & asylum seeker volunteers
and has produced translated materials in eight languages,
including good practice guidelines and proforma letters. More info...

Types
of voluntary work available
Each
month, there are over 300 different volunteering
opportunities on the database; working with a huge
range of organisations. We can search the database
if you are looking for voluntary work with elderly
people, or gay & lesbian groups, or organisations
working to combat homelessness or domestic violence.
There are many more categories and we will try to
find something that suits you. The Sheffield
