ICT Advice Service
VAS have an ICT Advice Service which is available to all voluntary and community groups in Sheffield. The service aims to develop understanding of information technology, no matter where the starting point is and to guide each organisation in such a way that it is able to use ICT effectively. The service provides a wide range of support and guidance including:
- hardware - e.g. hard disks, floppy disks, CD's
- software - e.g. word processing, database
- backup and security of data
- virus protection

Subscription Packs
Telephone and email support is available through the purchase of a Subscription Pack. The cost depends on the number of computers (including servers) and starts from £195 per year. The pack also includes:
- some on-site visits
- place on VAS IT training course
- subscription to ICTNet email discussion list
- initial hardware and software assessment

IT Suite
Do you have IT training course needs? Need training on your own specific software systems? IT interview testing?
VAS has a fully equipped IT Suite available for hire, based in the city centre of Sheffield. The Suite contains 12 Windows XP PC's with access to the internet. Please see the leaflet for full details on the Suite and prices start at £105.
ICT Training
We run courses on the full range of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Access and more specialist packages such as Microsoft Project. Ring the ICT Advice team on (0114) 2536610, 2536612, 2536611 or 2536613 for details.

The Service is also able to tailor courses to your organisations needs.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2003 - 5 November
This course covers the basics of using Microsoft Excel 2003. Topics covered include: Excel workbook and spreadsheets appearance, inputting data, working with formulas and adding graphs.
Introduction to Microsoft Publisher 2003 - 3 December
This course is designed to help new users to produce professional looking publications such as brochures, certificates, flyers, and so forth. It covers: using text and link frames, adding graphics, saving and printing documents, etc.
Introduction to Microsoft Access 2003 - 28 January 2009
Designed for users who are new or only have little experience using MS Access 2003, this course covers basic and frequently used features, such as the creation of tables, queries, reports and forms as well as modifying them.
This course outlines how to create and edit basic websites using MS Publisher 2003. During the course, you can also find out how to get a domain name and a webhost service.
Microsoft Access 2003 - Reports and Macros - 1 July
This course will take an in depth look at creating forms, reports and macros in MS Access 2003. It also covers establishing relationships between database objects. Anyone wishing to attend must be familiar with relational databases concepts and know how to develop relational databases in MS Access.
PC Health Assurance
Spring clean your computer with our PC Health Assurance service. This will be done at your premises by one of our team and includes:
- hardware and software inventory
- remove of temporary and unneccesary files
