The aim of the Network is to promote the powerful, effective involvement of the voluntary and community sector in the planning, development and delivery of health and health-related services in Sheffield.

It will achieve this aim by:

  • Providing opportunities for voluntary and community groups working in health and health-related fields to come together to discuss matters of shared interest, form working alliances and share information relating to local, regional and national developments
  • Supporting voluntary and community groups and individuals directly involved in planning and decision-making processes in health-related fields.

Membership

Membership is open to:

  • Representatives of all voluntary and community groups working in health-related fields
  • Individuals working in a voluntary or community capacity in health-related planning and partnership contexts.

Activities

The Network will:

  • Hold a minimum of 4 open meetings each year. Recent meetings have looked at the Partnership for Health structures and NHS modernisation; VCS involvement in partnership structures; involving service users and carers in your organisation
  • Establish time-limited working groups around particular interests as required by members
  • Distribute a quarterly newsletter and shorter bulletins
  • Undertake other activities required by members.

Support

The Network will be supported by:

  • staff in the Health, Housing and Social Care Team at Voluntary Action Sheffield, who are involved in planning and partnership activities
  • A small planning group drawn from and approved annually by the membership, one of whom will serve as Chair of the Network.
