About VAS

lady at conferenceVoluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) is an independent voluntary organisation supporting the development of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) locally.

It is a registered charity (no. 223007) and a company limited by guarantee (no. 215695), governed by a
Board of Management (Trustees) nominated and elected by its members.

What does VAS do?

VAS provides a wide range of support and services to groups, helping those that are starting up, as well as organisations that are already established. We are committed to equal opportunities and to making our services relevant and accessible to smaller, community based groups.  Find out more about VAS's full range of services and support.

VAS has an intermediary role, supporting and facilitating joint working between voluntary and community groups and with statutory bodies; and helping to ensure that the interests and concerns of the VCS are properly represented.

In addition to support for groups, some of VAS’s services are directed at individuals, particularly volunteers and people who use health and social care services in the city.

VAS also owns The Circle in Sheffield city centre, office accommodation and conference centre.

VAS is a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) and works particularly closely with NAVCA members in South Yorkshire and across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

VAS is an accredited provider for FUSE, and the lead partner.
